The University of Malawi (UNIMA) has a rich history that’s as vibrant as the country it calls home. Born just months after Malawi’s independence, we started small with just 90 students in Blantyre. But, like a baobab seed, we were destined to grow.
In the ’70s, we expanded our reach, establishing several colleges across the country. Each college, from the Institute of Public Administration at Mpemba to the College of Medicine in Blantyre, added a unique facet to our educational gem.
Fast forward to 2021, we turned a new leaf, transforming our colleges into independent universities under the UNIMA umbrella. This marked a new chapter in our history, one of growth and transformation.
Today, we’re not just an institution; we’re a historical landmark. It’s only the beginning for Malawi’s premier educational institution. We’re breaking down geographical barriers with the launch of our eCampus.
